The kindergartner was threatening to sue the organisers for motivating her to run the best part of 3 kilometres under false pretenses.
Mike, who persuaded Milly not to pursue damages, explained that, “Milly was under the impression that she was running for parrots. To take home. She was obviously pretty gutted to be going home without a parrot after running 13 laps of the field. She was only supposed to run 3 but she really wanted a parrot.”
“I tried to explain to her that the money she raised by running went towards saving the yellow shouldered parrots on Margarita Island. She got that but was still a bit miffed that she’d actually be paying for ‘some greenies’ to be saving parrots that she felt would be perfectly safe in her bedroom.”
Milly has called on event organisers to make future event posters less ambiguous.
Gutted: Milly thought that she would get a parrot for each bracelet earned.
Dammit…what a let down. I am so sorry that Milly had to suffer that injustice at such a young age. (I am however really impressed that she shares her Dad’s passion for birds.)
